It's all really quite simple - but I can't think of another company that does it!
It's as simple as
Working for small and medium sized businesses is what I do... and what I love. And I try to make it as easy, flexible, affordable, and satisfying as possible for my clients.
Throughout my career I've always been most pleased when I've helped a small business to get established whilst staying within their budget, and allow them & their business to look really good along the way. When the opportunity arose for me to start Electris Design Ltd., I knew immediately that I wanted to find a way to focus entirely on that premise.
When I had to ask myself the tough questions on how I would make this happen; keeping prices low, being available to my clients at almost any time, having fast turnaround time, offering a full-service "one stop" solution to save clients time and money... well, I just made it happen, with low overhead and word-of-mouth referral marketing, teaming with the best local printers with high quality and low prices, and just being there for my clients when they need me!
As for why I normally do not work with large clients... well, I think that's two-fold. One - it would probably drive me to actually raise my prices in order to compete with other expensive contractors and firms catering to that market, and to compensate for the cost of marketing myself to that sector. Two - this situation would seriously tie up all of my time and resources to cater to a very limited group of large-scale clients, rather than being available to many small and medium sized business clients and grow mainly by word of mouth and referrals (and my clients see the benefit of this by receiving referral bonuses). It's not to say that I do not do any work for large companies, but I am able to be a bit choosy to ensure that the service to my small and medium sized business clients is not impacted.
The small and medium sized business landscape can be tough - and not just when you are in your startup phase. The competition might already be out there and established, or perhaps you are blazing into uncharted territory... Either way, you need to look professional and put your best face forward and project a sophisticated image and identity.
This is where a Graphic Designer comes in. Yes, your flyer in Word and template-based webpage may get you through your first month, but will it really stand up in the marketplace? And do you have the time and expertise to make the image take shape on the page and screen as you imagine it? Or could you use the expertise of a professional to help you move to that 'next level' in your brand identity, while you use those materials alongside your efforts, which are best-directed where they should be - in building your business? What's that - you don't even have a company logo yet? Looks like a Graphic Designer would offer you the solutions you need.
I feel strongly about the services I provide and the way I do business, and I like to think that shows through in the work I do and value I provide. If you can show me a company offering a better value for the same quality, expertise, service, and flexibility I offer; I'll find a way to beat it.
With Electris Design Ltd., you don't have to worry about the little things, and you can rest easy knowing that I'm on call for when you need me, and don't cost you anything when you don't! Plus, you receive much more than 'just' a Graphic Designer. Take a look at the full-service, "one stop" solutions I provide my clients.
On top of all that, you may receive referral bonuses when you refer me to your friends and colleagues.
You have the flexibility to do as much or as little work at a time as you wish, to meet your needs and your budget. I am always prepared to offer advice and consultation on how to try to streamline things and save you money, and am always thinking of how to give my clients the best value for their money. Because I work closely with local print suppliers and offer web hosting and domain name services, you can save time by using Electris Design as a "one stop" solution - and you'll always get a great price. And because of my reasonable design rates, you won't need to take out a business loan just for my services!
Many small and medium businesses get downright spooked by graphic designers. Unfortunately, there are many of them out there that charge high prices, do not deliver value for dollar, or fall down on the service and turnaround end of things. Call me crazy, but I'd rather have small and medium business be able to afford my services, be completely satisfied with the value and service I provide, get their work completed on time and on budget, and be able to whole-heartedly recommend me to their peers. It's a wonderful feeling when I'm able to help another small or medium sized business do well, and know they feel highly enough about the experience to recommend me to others.
I hold a diploma in Visual Communications from Medicine Hat College, where I graduated with honors. I have worked as a professional Graphic Designer since 2000, and have enjoyed running Electris Design Ltd. (previously known as Electris Studio) since 2003. Though based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, I work with clients across Western Canada (and throughout North America, when the opportunity arises).
During my career, I have nearly always been working with small to medum sized businesses; both in my own business, and in the capacity of a contract Graphic Designer to clients and employers whom also cater to the small and medium sized business community. It has nearly always been my main focus, and I am glad to continue on this path.
I pride myself on being pro-active in production (making sure the pretty design on screen gets onto paper or the web with the least amount of problems, and therefore the least amount of added cost), a skill I find many Graphic Designers ignore; and leave their clients to be the brunt of delays and unforeseen costs.
I am originally from small-town Saskatchewan (just try to find Glentworth on the map!). I am passionate about writing and recording music in my small home studio in my spare time, and also find time to be a bit of a moviephile.
I look forward to the opportunity to serve you and enjoy the satisfaction in seeing your business grow.
